About Us

Founding Board

Our founding board is made up of five volunteers with different backgrounds and different professions. We are bonded together with a common passion and drive to establish a camp for children and adults who are everyday facing serious illness and physical, mental, and emotional challenges.

Mary Kitchens is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Jim Kitchens, mother of five, grandmother of seven, retired public school teacher and long-time volunteer with Camp Rainbow serving as the volunteer camp director for 2007-2010. Camp Rainbow is a Mississippi camp for children with cancer sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Billy Boykin and his wife Lynn have two children. Billy has worked for Trane Air Conditioning for almost 20 years with a background in facility and maintance management and sales. He is a boy scout leader. Though Lynn is not serving on the board, she plans to donate her skill and expertise to our camp. Lynn is a landscape architect and teaches Engineering Technology at Holmes Jr. College. She also is a scout leader.

Dan Kitchens is an attorney and partner in the Kitchens Law Firm. A childhood cancer survivor, Dan is an advocate for pediatric cancer patients and has been active with the American Cancer Society. He has been a Camp Rainbow volunteer for over 15 years and has first hand experience in the needs of providing camp for seriously ill children. Dan is an active member of a number of legal organizations including the America Association for Justice and the Mississippi Association for Justice, where he serves as a committee member.
